not so hypothetical...

you are spending one full day, let's say it's this saturday (7/21/07) , in manhattan with your spouse/significant other sans kids. what is your itinerary for that day? where will you eat? what will you pay to see? where will you shop? what will you buy?

the most "manhattan experience" itinerary will receive a nyc souvenir (i luvs my tchotchkies) from me in the mail. fo' reals peeps! :)

Hmmmm, maybe I would take the time to sleep in late, watch tv/read a book that didn't have pictures in it, and walk around the city (usually during the nice weather there are "fests" like in Chicago). I envy you.

I think I'd take the "Man" out of Manhattan, and go to the Bronx to Yankee Stadium. I want to see "the house that Ruth built." They are building a new stadium and next year is the last year they will be playing baseball at the current one. I want to suck it all in...smell the hot dogs, hear the cheers, and just be a part of the crowd.

After an afternoon game, I'd search out the best pizza place I could find and order a slice that I'd have to fold over...of course grease would be dripping from the fold. I would then get on the streets and have a session of "people watching."

After gorging myself on pizza and seeing the most interesting people on the planet, I'd try to find the best live music in NYC. I know that the legendary CBGB's has closed its doors, so I'd have to search for another place. I want to hear some music...have fun...listen to some happenin' music.

I'd top it all off with ending the evening at a place where I can enjoy a funky environment and have a cup of coffee... I don't know about New York, but I think a coffee shop that has offbeat music, different overstuffed chairs, and good conversation

I've never been there, but I'd love to see one of the big museums and eat at a great deli. Have fun! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Love the Little People, by the way. :)

One night? aackk...so much to do in NY, so little time...

I would go and dine at Cendrillon (check out Cendrillon.com) and see Les Miserables.

You must take pictures and post it in here.

:-) MJ

Coffee and Pastry-Dean and Deluca in Rockerfeller Center. Come early enough to hang outside the NBC Studio and say "Hi" as they broadcast the Saturday Morning Show.

Metropolitan Museum of Art-Taxi there...I would definitely try to squeeze in a NYC "slice" of pizza.

Matinee-Sign up for Matinee tickets for a Broadway Show.

Dinner-If it is an anniversary..."Rainbow Room"...or there are many great "Theater" restaurants with Prix Fixed Menu in Time Square. They cater to the Theater Crowd. Competition is so great around there, you can't go wrong.

Central Park-Romantic Carriage ride...drinks, dessert near Lincoln Center...many many cute bistros, coffee, dessert places.
